The full points breakdown for the 2024 Ballon d'Or Feminin is now out, revealing the impressive margin by which Aitana Bonmati claimed the title.

The 26-year-old Spain international first won the prize in 2023 following their FIFA Women's World Cup triumph and was named the recipient for a second consecutive year after Barcelona completed a historic quadruple last season. The only other player to claim the prize more than once is compatriot Alexia Putellas, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2021 and 2022.

Among the nominees for the 2024 prize were Bonmati's Barca teammates Caroline Graham Hansen and Salma Paralluelo, along with a number of USWNT stars including Sophia Smith, Lindsey Horan and Mallory Swanson after they won Olympic gold over the summer.

From an England perspective, Chelsea's Lauren James was ranked the highest of all the nominated Lionesses. Lucy Bronze and Lauren Hemp were also under consideration after strong seasons with their respective clubs.

French publication L'Equipe has now published a detailed breakdown of the points received by each player at this year's awards. Bonmati earned 675 points, a staggering 283 clear of Hansen in second place.

How does voting for the Ballon d'Or Feminin actually work?

For the 2023/24 season, the Ballon d'Or Feminin was awarded by an international jury of specialist journalists with a representative from each of the top 50 countries in the FIFA rankings.

Each member of the jury placed ten players in descending order based on merit with each then awarded either 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 points.

Jurors made their decision based on the following criteria: Individual performances, decisive and impressive character, collective performances and track record, as well as class and fair play. The Ballon d'Or was then awarded to the player with the highest number of points.
