The Trotters are heading into the summer on the back of a positive Sky Bet League One campaign and manager Ian Evatt will be pleased about that.

Indeed, they are now looking to add to the squad to put together a more concerted play-off challenge in League One next season, and it’ll be interesting to see who they go for.

Players coming through from the academy will also be looked at, too, and Litherland is bound to have advised which youngsters should be considered in particular before sealing his exit from the Trotters.

As per Nixon, Litherland is leaving Wanderers to pursue other opportunities, and we’ll have to see where he ends up.

The Verdict

The academy manager has been with the club for a couple of years and will no doubt have taken pride in developing some of the club’s younger footballers.

He clearly feels the time is right for a new challenge, though, and Bolton themselves will now be on the hunt to find someone that can come in and replace him in his role.

Bolton look far more stable than they did a few years back, and so they’ll be keen to make a good appointment here.
