Milan’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek dominated for the Rossoneri against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Stefano Pioli’s enjoyed a summer signing who only recently returned from injury, but he had an impact in his first few games as well.
For some days, it didn’t seem as if Loftus-Cheek would be available for the game yesterday but the Englishman came through and produced a sparkling show at the San Siro.
Daniele Longo has provided some insight into how Milan signed the midfielder, stating that the deal was worth €15 million plus bonuses of €5 million. The €15 million part was the base payment and the bonuses of €5 million were linked to the player’s performances in the Serie A and the Champions League. It is stated that if performances like the one put in yesterday continue, the bonuses could be met.
Loftus-Cheek earns a wage of €4 million per season, which is in line with how much he earned in the Premier League. In fact, the ex-Fulham man had chosen Milan as his next destination back in October and a vital point in the deal had come after Chelsea and Milan had met in the Champions League last season.
Loftus-Cheek had impressed the likes of Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini in the game and he later picked Milan, despite offers from Premier League sides.
