Atlético de Madrid dropped points in the title race as they drew 1-1 with Espanyol on Saturday.
Scorers: Puado (PEN) 70'; Azpilicueta 38'
Atleti travelled to Barcelona knowing that only three points would do in their hunt to stay in the Liga title race.
It was a trepidatious start by the capital club but they broke the deadlock on 38 minutes as Cesar Azpilicueta netted a goal of the season contender from the edge of the area.
Into the second half and the hosts levelled on 70 minutes as Javi Puado netted from the spot after Clement Lenglet's foul inside the area.
And that was how it stayed as Azpilicueta's famous effort wasn't enough.
