AZ Alkmaar are appealing the settlement proposal that Wouter Goes received after his red card against Go Ahead Eagles (W0-3). The much-discussed defender was sent off the field after a wild tackle on Enric Llansana.

On Sunday afternoon, the AZ defender caused a stir when he made an ill-judged tackle in injury time in the match against Go Ahead Eagles. That match was tense enough already, following the aftermath of the KNVB cup final.

The KNVB disciplinary committee sent a settlement proposal for a three-match suspension, one of which is conditional. The Alkmaarders do not agree with this. The club is appealing against this decision and is contesting the suspension.

Various football experts have spoken out about Goes, with many criticising the defender, who started cheering after his heavy challenge.
