While he has no complaints on the football front, Leicester City forward Ayoze Pérez has admitted that he isn’t too pleased with his new home.
During the summer, the Spaniard sealed a big-money move from Newcastle to the Foxes, where he is settling in nicely.
On the pitch at least, following his hat-trick in last week’s 9-0 demolition of Southampton at St Mary’s.
But off the field, he has revealed that he preferred his old surroundings in the north east.
“Twice a week, I usually do extra training as I always try to prepare myself to be better individually,” Pérez told Radio Marca Tenerife.
“The city itself doesn’t have many things though and as a city, Newcastle was better.
“But I have London that is only an hour away from me so I escape there a lot.”
Ouch. But if his words do irk Foxes fans a little, they will likely be appeased by his ambitions for the club.
“If we could play in the Champions League next year, it would be a big milestone for us,” he added.
“That would be incredible. Of course, it is difficult but we have the mentality to achieve something important this year.
“We may be a young team but we are one with a lot of ambition.”
One avenue to success may be the EFL Cup, with Leicester handed a quarter-final trip to Everton in Thursday’s draw.
