Aymeric Laporte has provided Manchester City fans with a very significant update on Instagram on Sunday afternoon, picturing himself with his football boots back on for the first time since sustaining serious damage to his knee in August.
The France international has missed almost the whole of the 2019/20 campaign to date, after sustaining serious damage to his knee in the 4-0 win over Brighton in the Premier League back in August. City have suffered significantly as a result, falling 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool, and struggling for options within the back four due to other injuries to their remaining personnel.
However, Aymeric Laporte has certainly lifted the spirits of the City faithful, filming himself with the boots back on at the City Football Academy, prior to what was presumably his first training session back on the pitch.
At the start of the month, the defender stated: “[My recovery] is going very well. Still I need time but I hope as soon as possible I can come back and play with my teammates. I can’t say when exactly but more or less one month-and-a-half to two months.”
Manchester City will be hoping the 25-year-old returns to full first-team action soon, with the hectic run of games continuing in the new year, as well as the mammoth double-header against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
