Aston Villa defender Axel Tuanzebe wants to move to Villa Park on a permanent basis next summer.
That’s according to a report by The Sun, who claimed that an insider has revealed that the on-loan Manchester United defender would like to make his temporary spell with Dean Smith’s side a permanent move at the end of the season, as the 23-year-old is enjoying his football at Villa Park.
According to the report, the insider said: “Axel is playing with a smile on his face and loves the reception Aston Villa fans gave him when he returned to the club. He’s very happy in the West Midlands and would welcome a permanent move to the club, if that was to arise.
“In Dean Smith, Axel believes he has a boss who can get the best out of him and understands his game. He is getting plenty of minutes on the pitch and the experience will only improve his game. Axel would relish the opportunity to stay beyond this season and help the club win trophies.”

Consider just how well Tuanzebe has performed during his three separate loan spells at Aston Villa, the fact that the 23-year-old would like to make his move to the club permanent is sure to come as music to the ears of the Villa Park faithful.
Indeed, over his five Championship appearances for the club back in 2017/18, the £7.2m-rated centre-back averaged 0.4 interceptions, 3.2 tackles and 3.8 clearances and won 7.4 duels per game – returns which saw the young defender earn an average SofaScore match rating of 6.74.
After returning to Villa the following season, Tuanzebe once again impressed over his 25 second-tier fixtures, helping his side to keep four clean sheets, as well as making 0.9 interceptions, 1.2 tackles and four clearances and winning 5.6 duels per game. That saw the £50k-per-week defender earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.78.

After spending two years back at Old Trafford, the former England under-21 international once again linked up with Villa this summer, and has so far averaged a SofaScore match rating of 6.67 over his three Premier League appearances for the club this season.
As such, it would certainly appear as if the signing of a player who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer labelled an “outstanding” talent would be a fantastic addition for Villa to make next summer. It is a deal which would appear like it’s there to be done for Smith following the latest developments regarding the 23-year-old’s feelings about a potential permanent switch.
