Australia and Chelsea star Sam Kerr suffers serious knee injury

Chelsea have confirmed their star striker Sam Kerr has sustained an ACL injury during their warm weather training camp in Morocco.

The news comes as a major blow for both the Blues and the Australian national team, whom Kerr captains.

The 30-year-old has struggled with a series of injuries over the last six months, but this latest one is by far the most serious and is set to rule her out until at least the end of the season.

The striker had been in good form for Chelsea, scoring nine goals in 12 games to date this season, but she is likely to have played her last game under departing manager Emma Hayes.
