Birmingham City finally put their rotten run in the Championship to an end yesterday afternoon, defeating Swansea City away from home in 3pm action.

The Blues did so in dramatic fashion, though, running out 4-3 winners thanks to a 97th minute winner from defender Auston Trusty.

Heading into the 90th minute, the Blues were 3-2 down, but Lukas Jutkiewicz found an equaliser in that moment, setting up the scenario that allowed Trusty to head home a very late winner.

Prior to the match, the Blues had lost their last five in the Championship.

Perhaps that is why defender Auston Trusty was so eager to send the Blues supporters a message of thanks following his winning goal yesterday afternoon.

Indeed, on Instagram, the Blues defender thanked the clubs support for sticking with the squad.

“Moments like these are what it’s all about.”

“A massive thank you to the fans for sticking with us.

“We move! 💙💙 #TrustyTheProcess #BCFC #KRO.”

Following yesterday’s victory, Birmingham City currently sit 18th in the Championship standings.

The Blues are eight points clear of the drop zone and nine behind the top six.

The Verdict

Auston Trusty has proved to be a real hit for Birmingham City on loan from Arsenal.

His performances at the back for the Blues have been strong and with now four goals to his name, it’s clear he carries a threat in the opposition box.

It was a crazy game to be involved in for Blues, but a much needed three points following their recent run.

As Trusty thanked them for, the club’s supporters have stuck with the side despite that form and yesterday hopefully repaid some of their faith in this Birmingham squad.
