France star Aurélien Tchouaméni made use of the opportunity to lavish praise on a fellow member of the midfield ranks at Real Madrid in the early hours of Sunday.

The player in question? Toni Kroos.

Tchouaméni, and Kroos, went head-to-head on the international stage late last night.

As much came as France played host to Germany, in a highly-anticipated friendly clash.

When all was said and done, in something of a surprise, it was the latter who emerged on the right side of the result, owing to goals on the part of Florian Wirtz, and Kai Havertz.

Post-match, though, it was the aforementioned Kroos who took the majority of the plaudits.

The 34-year-old took to the pitch in German colours for the first time in almost three years at the Groupama Stadium, and slotted in as though he had never left.

Controlling proceedings from his berth in the middle of the park, Kroos proved himself a transformative figure for a long-struggling Die Mannschaft outfit, reiterating his status as one of world football’s very best in his role.

And, as alluded to above, in the aftermath of the action in Lyon, one individual who could not help but reveal his admiration for Kroos, came in the form of Aurélien Tchouaméni.

After getting an up close look at the brilliance of his Real Madrid teammate from the view of an opposing player on Saturday, Frenchman Tchouaméni went as far as to label Kroos one of the greatest to ever take to the pitch:

“Toni Kroos is one of the best players ever. He changes the face of this German team,” the 24-year-old concluded.
