Augsburg set to pick up former Hertha academy product Anton Kade

Kicker reports that FC Augsburg are set to bring former Hertha academy man Anton Kade back to German football. The versatile midfielder departed the Bundesliga’s Charlottenburg capital city side on a €750,000 transfer to Basel in the summer of 2022. Since joining the Swiss champions, the now 21-year-old has increased his estimated market value to €5m.
Kicker claims that Augsburg have negotiated a €2.25m purchase. Kade scored four goals and contributed four assists in 36 league appearances for Basel last season whilst mostly featuring on the right flank and as a right back. The Berlin native nevertheless took his turns working as a six and an eight in midfield on five occasions.
Kade has four Bundesliga appearances to his credit. He was used off the bench three times by former Hertha head coach Tayfun Korkut in the spring of 2022. He also appeared once under Felix Magath. Kade’s four relief shifts add up to 73 total minutes of German top flight action. Kade has represented Germany at U20 level and below.
