Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should sign on to extend his contract if Arsenal win the FA Cup final on Saturday, but he’s likely to leave if they don’t.
French outlet L’Equipe report that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is only likely to stay at Arsenal and sign a contract extension if they win in the FA Cup final against Chelsea.
The report claims Aubameyang should sign a new deal with the club if they win the match. He has a strong relationship with Mikel Arteta and teammates, who respect him as the club captain, and he loves London.
However, should Arsenal lose the match, Aubameyang fears their current project will take too long for him to reap the benefits of it, at 31 years old. He’d see it as his last chance to join another top club playing in Europe.
Undoubtedly, Arsenal are desperate for the striker to stay. With another 30 goal contributions in all competitions this season, Aubameyang is clearly the main threat in front of goal. As above, his teammates and coach clearly like and respect him too.
There’s little doubt Arsenal are just as keen to win the final. Any chance to lift a trophy is one worth taking, but this one also brings European football. After missing out on the Europa League places through the league, this is the only way in.
The match is starting to look more important by the minute.
