Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace to help Arsenal breeze past Newcastle United 3-0 at the Emirates and extend their unbeaten run to six games.
Scorers: Aubameyang 50′, 77′, Saka 60′.
It was a game of contrasting emotions for the Arsenal captain as he was responsible for one of the misses of the season in the first half.
Bukayo Saka drilled the ball across goal but the 31-year-old somehow hit the post with an empty goal to aim at.
Mikel Arteta will be thankful that Aubameyang managed to shake that off to fire Arsenal ahead at the start of the second half, turning Emil Krafth inside out before lashing the ball past Karl Darlow after a fine counter-attack.
Saka doubled the Gunners’ lead ten minutes later when he stroked the ball home after being picked out by Emile Smith-Rowe at the edge of the penalty area.
Aubameyang was then on hand to wrap the game up and bag his second 13 minutes from time with a tap-in from a Cédric Soares pull-back.
The Gunners move into the top half of the Premier League table and are now five points off the European spots.
