Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s camp have reportedly held a positive meeting with Chelsea over a contract, ahead of talks over a fee with Barcelona.

Fabrizio Romano reports that a meeting between Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s camp and Chelsea on Thursday night was very positive, with personal terms not set to be an issue.

Chelsea and Aubameyang’s representatives are said to be on the same page over his contract, but the London club now need to hold talks with Barcelona.

The La Liga side want €30m (£25.5m), which Chelsea consider to be too high.

The Telegraph report that Chelsea are pushing ahead with a move for Aubameyang as a short-term solution before they sign their long-term centre-forward targets like Christopher Nkunku or Rafael Leao next summer.

If Aubameyang’s camp aren’t going to cause any problems, you’d imagine the move will eventually go through.

Barcelona have financial difficulties and a new striker, having signed Robert Lewandowski this summer. They’ll probably be keen enough to sell eventually, they’ll just want to get as much money as they can out of Chelsea first.

As for Aubameyang, this whole situation should be a bit embarrassing for him.

The striker is giving up on Barcelona at the first sign of competition so he can go and play at Chelsea, with an Arsenal tattoo on his arm, as a short-term solution before they replace him in a year.

It’s a shameless move, and he’ll have to hope he scores enough goals that it doesn’t backfire on him.
