Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang just loves the Europa League.
The Marseille forward is now the top scorer in the combined history of the competition and the UEFA Cup after Thursday’s last-16 strike against Villarreal.
Aubameyang slotted home from the penalty spot to make it 3-0 to the Ligue 1 side before the half-time whistle, putting them in a great position to progress against the 2021 champions.
It was the Gabonese’s 32nd strike in Europe’s secondary tournament, moving him past Celtic and Sweden legend Henrik Larsson in the all-time rankings.
The 34-year-old’s goals have come for Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Barcelona, as well as his current side.
However, he is yet to win the competition. Could he change that this season?
