Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed his frustration at Arsenal’s latest defensive collapse.
Unai Emery’s side squandered a two-goal half-time lead to draw 2-2 at bottom club Watford on Sunday, with a series of defensive mistakes once again proving the club’s downfall.
Arsenal handed Watford an avenue back into the contest when being caught playing out from the back, Tom Cleverley capitalising to fire home before David Luiz’s clumsy challenge allowed Roberto Pereyra to equalise from the penalty spot late on.
Aubameyang, who’s first-half double had seemingly put Arsenal in control, has revealed his frustration at the club’s latest defensive showing, admitting it feels like the club are ‘literally giving goals to the opposition’.
‘I feel like we are literally giving goals to the opposition,’ Aubameyang told Canal Plus.
‘It is up to us to progress. I don’t want to accuse anyone, but you could say that us, the attackers, could have killed the game off and score a third goal so I am not going to say it is someone’s fault.
‘Obviously we didn’t expect that. We knew that they were going to try and come back with good intentions, of the kind they demonstrated in the second half.
‘Sadly, we were not able to deal with them well.’
