Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has given FC Barcelona the green light to make a move for him this month, according to reports in France.

Le10Sport claim Barcelona have the ‘green light’ from Aubameyang for a January transfer. He reportedly wants a move this window, and playing in La Liga tempts him. Barcelona have had a keen interest in the striker for several months.

Barcelona are looking to sign a centre-forward, following Luis Suarez’s injury. Suarez will miss around four months after his operation, so they need someone in quickly.

They’d have to make a really attractive offer to convince Arsenal to sell though. Reports from Goal suggesting they’re asking for the striker on loan are ridiculous. Arsenal aren’t going to run down a 30-year-old’s contract when he’s their top scorer.

Aubameyang is out with a suspension at the moment. He’ll miss one more game domestically, the FA Cup fixture against AFC Bournemouth. He’s still club captain with 17 goal contributions in 26 games this season though.

Gabriel Martinelli is stepping up in his place well, but he’s an 18-year-old. His form will come and go, and Alexandre Lacazette isn’t offering enough goals. Arsenal can’t sell (or loan) without big money and a replacement in mind.
