Atlético Madrid identify new defensive transfer target | OneFootball

The board at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have identified a new target in their ongoing search for reinforcements at the back for next season.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who point towards Arthur Theate as the player in question.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that Atlético are on the lookout for fresh blood in defence this summer.

Sitting atop the shortlist of the Rojiblancos is Tottenham Hotspur stalwart Cristian Romero.

Aware that the World Cup winner is likely to command a premium sum, however, Diego Simeone and co. have also earmarked a number of alternative targets.

And as alluded to above, this week, one such player’s identity has been revealed.

As per a report from MD:

‘A new name has emerged to strengthen Atlético’s defense. It’s Arthur Theate, a 25-year-old Belgian center back who can also play at left back and currently plays for Eintracht Frankfurt. Journalist Sacha Tovalieri claims that Atlético have asked the German club about the situation.’

Theate, for his part, is valued at €24 million by market experts transfermarkt.
