La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have this weekend been dealt a blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that midfield starlet Pablo Barrios has suffered an injury setback.
Atlético Madrid are primed to return to action later this evening, in the club’s first outing since their campaign at the Club World Cup.
A meeting with Portuguese heavyweights Porto lies in wait, at the Estádio do Dragão.
As alluded to above, however, playing no part in proceedings on Sunday will be Rojiblancos midfielder Pablo Barrios.
This comes after the 22-year-old suffered what has been described as a ‘minor’ injury during a recent training session.
As per a statement across Atlético’s website and social media platforms:
‘Pablo Barrios has a minor muscle injury, diagnosed by the club’s medical services following tests on the midfielder, and will miss Sunday’s friendly against Porto.
‘The red-and-white number 8 will undergo physiotherapy sessions and rehabilitation work in the gym, and the progress of his injury will determine his return to competition.’
