The panel of players selected by Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone to take on Villarreal later this evening has been unveiled online.
And it features a number of noteworthy talking points.
First and foremost, João Félix, despite the ongoing speculation regarding his future, has been afforded a place in the travelling party.
The Portuguese is expected to seal a move to Premier League giants Chelsea any day now, but boss Simeone evidently intends to continue to make use of his talents until as much is made official.
Left out, on the other hand, is Samu Omorodion.
The young frontman was also hotly tipped to join Chelsea earlier in the summer, only for the deal to collapse at the very last minute.
Omorodion has since rejoined Atlético’s squad in training, but has evidently not done enough to earn a call up on Monday.
The other head-turning absentee from the Rojiblancos’ squad list, meanwhile, comes in the form of Thomas Lemar.
Despite having recovered from a long-term spell on the sidelines through injury, Frenchman Lemar seemingly sits outside the plans of the coaching staff in Spain’s capital at present…
