Since the start of the 2022/2023 season, Antoine Griezmann has largely come on at around the 60-70th minute mark for Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone’s men have tried their best to forego paying the full €40 million fee to Barcelona in order to sign him permanently.

The fee would only have to be paid if the Frenchman plays for at least 45 minutes of the 50% of the matches he is available in till the end of his two-year loan deal.

With the Catalan giants keen to get the World Cup winner off their books, it has been revealed that a compromise has been reached between both clubs

As per the latest information provided by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid will complete a deal for Antoine Griezmann on a permanent basis for €20 million, plus €2 million in add-ons.

Further details suggest that all parties involved are confident that an agreement will be signed and sealed imminently.

It has also been clarified that the former Real Sociedad forward’s desire was always to stay put at the Civitas Metropolitano.

It was reported a few weeks ago that both the player and Diego Simeone were assured that an agreement would be reached, with the manager considering the French forward as a valued member of the squad.

Furthermore, Atletico Madrid were happy to initiate a court battle over Griezmann’s contractual situation, considering the club was confident that they were playing by the rules.

The same cannot be said for Barcelona, who ultimately wanted to resolve the situation before the upcoming Qatar World Cup.

With an agreement finalised and set to be signed, Simeone will no longer have any restrictions with regard to his usage of Griezmann on the pitch. The Frenchman is also poised to sign a long-term contract with Atletico Madrid, tying him down to the club until 2027.
