Though a host of clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, are interested in bringing in Atlético Madrid shot-stopper Jan Oblak this summer, Diego Simeone and company will not let him leave on the cheap.
According to the Daily Mail, Atlético will demand the full €120m release clause if any team should pry away one of the best goalkeepers in all of Europe.
It’s claimed that Oblak is not happy with the decision-making of Atlético sporting director Andrea Berta or the direction he has the club going in.
Oblak is said to be very aware of Chelsea’s interest amid Kepa’s struggles, while Manchester United’s goalkeeper situation is uncertain with David de Gea’s inconsistent play and Dean Henderson’s rapid rise to prominence while on-loan at Sheffield United.
However, it will be extremely difficult for United to offload de Gea as he’s on a rumoured £360,000-a-week wage, while a substantial fee would also need to be paid for his services.
With Oblak’s future up in the air, Atlético are said to be considering Barcelona’s Marc Andre Ter Stegen, PSG’s Alphonse Areola, Ajax’s Andre Onana, Burnley’s Nick Pope and United’s Henderson.
