Atlético Madrid bounced back from defeat to extend their lead at the top of LaLiga after beating Elche 1-0 on Saturday.
Scorers: Llorente 23′
Atlético started well and thought they took the lead through Luis Suárez, although Marcos Llorente was correctly ruled offside in the earlier build-up.
But they did eventually make their breakthrough when Ángel Correa found Llorente on the edge of the box, who finished past Paolo Gazzaniga in goal.
Suárez had the ball in the net again after an excellent turn and through ball from Correa, although the 34-year-old was offside after starting his run too early.
Elche had a guilt-edged chance to equalise late on but Antonio Barragán volleyed over from close range with Mario Hermoso caught napping in defence.
But Atléti shot themselves in the foot after conceding a 90th minute penalty when Llorente handled after competing for a header with Pere Milla.
However, Fidel stepped up and slammed the post with his effort, ensuring the visitors secured all three points in dramatic fashion – leaving themselves five points clear.
