Atletico Madrid unveiled Robin Le Normand, Alexander Sorloth, Julian Alvarez and Conor Gallagher in front of a packed-out Civitas Metropolitano earlier this week. Club officials are determined to ensure that they aren’t the only signings made by Los Colchoneros during the summer.
A left-sided central defender has been wanted all summer. David Hancko is Atleti’s top target, but until now, negotiations with Feyenoord have been without success. The club will move on if their final offer is rejected. Diario AS have reported that the proposal, which is worth €30m, is with the Eredivisie heavyweights.
According to Ruben Uria, a 20% sell-on clause has also been included by Atleti, as they desperately try to secure Feyenoord’s approval. Hancko is reportedly desperate to join, and he is applying pressure to ensure that an agreement is closed as soon as possible.
It was clear during Atletico Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Villarreal on Monday that a left-sided centre-back is necessary. Robin Le Normand struggled in the position, and he would be much better suited on the right. It remains to be seen whether Hancko is the player that fills the vacancy that has been there all summer.
