A highly-regarded up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid has on Wednesday sealed a move away from the club.
The player in question? Samu Omorodion.
The name of frontman Omorodion has of course taken its place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines over the course of the last week.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the 20-year-old was the subject of increasingly intense transfer talks between Atléti, and Premier League heavyweights Chelsea.
Amid the former’s negotiations for Conor Gallagher, the Chelsea board made use of the opportunity to make clear their interest in Omorodion.
And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, such discussions have borne fruit.
As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Samu Omorodion to Chelsea, here we go! Deal in place for £35m as fixed fee from Atlético Madrid.’
The Spanish youth international, who spent last season plying his trade on loan at Deportivo Alavés, has agreed to the terms of a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
