Atletico Madrid are targeting at least one new forward this summer, following the departure of Memphis Depay. Alvaro Morata and Angel Correa have also been linked with moves away, so it is essential for someone to arrive. Artem Dovbyk, Alexander Sorloth and Julian Alvarez have all been linked in recent weeks, and now another has been added to the list.

According to La Nazione (via ED), Atleti are considering Fiorentina’s Nicolas Gonzalez as an option for when the transfer window opens next month. The 26-year-old is off the back on an impressive 16-goal season, which 12 of those strikes coming in Serie A.

The report claims that Atletico Madrid have made preliminary contact with Fiorentina to make their interest known. However, it would be a costly operation for Los Colchoneros, as Gonzalez’s valuation is likely to be in excess of €35m, which is his current market value. It remains to be seen whether their interest goes any further.
