Antoine Griezmann has joined Atlético Madrid from Barcelona on a long-term basis, the club have announced.
The France international originally left the Rojiblancos for the Camp Nou in 2019 but endured a difficult time there before returning to the Spanish capital on a loan deal last season.
That loan was extended this summer but due to Atleti being eager to avoid paying the €40 million obligatory appearance-based clause in the deal, his playing time was largely reduced to 30-minute cameos off the bench.
However, an agreement has now been found with Barcelona for the move to be made permanent for a fee in the region of €20m plus up to €4m in bonuses, per local media reports.
As a result, Griezmann has now penned a long-term with Atlético until the summer of 2026.
He is the club’s third highest all-time goalscorer with 144 goals, as well as contributing 59 assists and winning three major trophies during his time at the club to date.
