Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid were expected to be on hostile terms after the pact of non-aggression was broken, but the situation has evolved to a whole new level in recent weeks.

The arrival of Iker Bravo into the picture has seen sparks re-ignite between the two sides. Both clubs are trying to secure the striker’s services, and the race could boil down to the final day of the window.

According to reports from Mario Cortegana, Los Rojiblancos are not ready to go down without a fight. Diego Simeone’s side have upped their offer for the Bayer Leverkusen forward in view of their neighbours’ sudden entry into the race.

The German club are willing to send Bravo on a two-season loan with a purchase clause. While the fee for the loan will be a mere €1 million, it would cost the interested party €15 million to make his signing permanent.

Both the Madrid clubs do not intend to use the Spaniard’s services for the first team initially. Bravo will play for the academy in his first season before hopefully switching to the first division on merit.

The 17-year-old is seen as the future replacement for Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. However, he could see a more immediate role in the first team with Diego Simeone as Atletico Madrid are still shuffling with their attacking lineup.

The youngster did not play a big part in Leverkusen’s first team last season but was a constant figure in the young team dynamics. While he certainly lacks experience, he has a ton of potential, which both clubs from the Spanish capital realise.
