After his struggles at Atletico Madrid, Joao Felix is finally starting to thrive while on loan at FC Barcelona.

Having arrived at the Catalan club on the summer transfer deadline day, the 23-year-old Portuguese international has quickly become an important part of Xavi Hernandez’s setup.

Joao Felix never managed to settle into the tactics at Atletico Madrid under Diego Simeone, but has fit in nicely into Barça’s style and philosophy in his short time at the club.

In fact, Felix touched upon the same in his press conference on Tuesday, as he remarked:

“Barcelona is a great team. Everyone knows how to play. I think I have adapted well. I am working on it. We can see the way Barcelona plays compared to Atletico. This does not mean Atleti is bad, but I adapt better to the way Barça play.”

Atletico Madrid president responds to Felix’s comments

Now, Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has responded to the comments made by Joao Felix, stating that it is good to see the 23-year-old flourish as he still remains a Rojiblancos’ player.

In fact, Cerezo went on to claim that based on current form, Felix is one of the best players in the continent at the moment.

“We each think in our own way. João Félix is very free to say whatever he wants. He knows that he is an Atlético player on loan at Barça. I think he will be one of the best, and he is one of the best players in Europe at the moment,” Cerezo said, as quoted by AS.

When asked why the Portuguese international did not click at Atletico, Cerezo did not wish to get into the details of it, but stated that the forward can be the best in the world.

“I don’t go into technical things. It didn’t work here and it does at Barça. We are delighted, what more do we want than João to be the best in the world, which he probably will be,” he stated.
