Third meets fourth in La Liga as Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad clash. Sociedad will be looking to confirm their spot in next season’s Champions League alongside the hosts.

Scorers: Griezmann 37′, Molina 73′; Sørloth 88′

The opening 15 minutes saw Sociedad have more of the possession but little action at either end of the pitch.

Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring for Atleti against his old club in the 37th minute, bringing a drab game to live with a stunning goal from the right hand side of the box.

The second half saw Sociedad slightly improve as they hunted an equaliser. Their need was lessened by matters elsewhere as Rayo Vallecano led Villarreal which meant Champions League football would be secured if things stayed the same.

Atleti doubled their lead in the 73rd minute through a quite stunning finish from Nahuel Molina. Griezmann slipped in the right wing back and he smashed it home, high and out of the reach of Ivo Grbic.

Sociedad did pull one back in the 88th minute through Alexander Sørloth but it seemed to be little more than a consolation.

Atleti held out to make it nine straight home league wins in a row.
