Atlético Madrid ‘more than likely’ to table bid for Barcelona star next summer | OneFootball

The transfer team at Atlético Madrid are expected to sanction a permanent move for Barcelona star Clément Lenglet next summer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Friday provided an insight into the situation.

Defender Lenglet of course sealed a fresh departure from Catalunya’s capital this past summer.

Deemed surplus to requirements by Hansi Flick and co, the Frenchman went on to pen terms with the aforementioned Atlético, on loan for the duration of the campaign.

And, in the time since, Lenglet has gone on to rebuild his reputation in impressive fashion.

After a shaky start to life in Spain’s capital, hampered by fitness problems, recent weeks have seen the 29-year-old establish himself as an important figure in Diego Simeone’s backline.

All told, Lenglet has been afforded nine starts across all competitions, chipping in with a pair of goals along the way.

And such endeavours could well prove enough to secure for the defender a permanent home at the Metropolitano Stadium.

As per a report from Sport:

‘Atlético Madrid do not have an option to buy the centre-back, but if he continues with this performance it is more than likely that they will end up bidding for his permanent signing in June.’

Lenglet is also labelled as ‘comfortable’ in Madrid, more than happy to extend his stint in Rojiblancos colours beyond next summer.
