Atletico Madrid looking to hijack Chelsea’s move for Elye Wahi | OneFootball

L’Équipe are reporting that Atletico Madrid have made contact with Montpellier regarding the signing of Elye Wahi (20), who according to the French publication, has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Chelsea were accelerating the deal to bring the French striker to the club. A source close to the deal said that whilst “nothing was concrete,” things were advancing well.

L’Équipe add that Wahi himself has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, and the London club have the intention of loaning him to Strasbourg, who in BlueCo, share the same owner. However, despite Chelsea’s advances, Montpellier are still awaiting a written offer and in the meantime, La Liga side Atletico Madrid have opened negotiations with the Ligue 1 club.

In the opening exchanges, Atletico Madrid have proposed offering players in the deal, which for now is of no interest to Montpellier. Wahi’s contract runs until 2025, but he hopes for his future to be decided in the coming days.
