Every other window, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid lock horns in a transfer battle, with players going either side.

Two of Spain’s biggest sides, they have exchanged some of the biggest names in the league, including David Villa, Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Arda Turan, among others in the last decade.

Most recently, Memphis Depay made his way to Atletico for €3 million. Barça were hoping to sign Yannick Carrasco on an exchange deal but Atleti turned down the proposal.

Eventually, the Spanish capital outfit agreed to include a clause in the Memphis move that would allow Barcelona to sign Carrasco in the summer for €15 million, on the last year of his contract.

They seem to be keen on the signing of the Belgian, and have already made a final decision on the move, if reports are to be believed.

As a replacement, Atletico have turned their attention towards Ferran Torres, according to a report published by SPORT.

Signing in January 2022, Ferran has not managed to cement a spot in Xavi’s starting lineup. The coach initially relied on the Spaniard’s services on the left-wing, and often as the striker, but has since leaned towards the likes of Ansu Fati, Raphinha, and even Gavi to fill those roles.

While the player will almost definitely continue at the club in the winter, he could be used to raise money in the summer through player sales.

Meanwhile, Atletico are preparing a summer overhaul, which will see Joao Felix and Thomas Lemar leave the club, while the doors will also be open for Carrasco. As such, Ferran, with his experience in La Liga, becomes an instant solution to their problems.

The biggest roadblock in making this move happen, however, is that Ferran signed for Barcelona for €55 million. They will find it difficult to sell him for a sum greater than, or equal to it.

The report suggests that Barcelona could end up reducing their asking price to €45 million in the hopes of avoiding a huge loss.

The former Valencia man also has suitors in the Premier League after his impressive displays with Manchester City. He scored nine goals and assisted three across 28 appearances in the prem, which included 19 starts.
