Atlético Madrid have joined a queue of La Liga clubs keen on a summer deal for on-loan Manchester United talent Mason Greenwood.

Frontman Greenwood, of course, was afforded something of a 2nd chance last summer, in being brought in by Getafe for the duration of the 2023/24 campaign.

And, after something of a hit-and-miss start to life in La Liga, recent months have seen the England international begin to repay the faith of the powers that be at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

In fact, after finding the net against both Granada and Real Betis, Greenwood has been rated as WhoScored‘s highest-rated player in two of his last three outings.

All told, in 22 appearances in Getafe’s colours to date, he has racked up a none-too-shabby seven goals, and four assists.

Such form, in turn, has seen rumours begin to spread that a number of clubs across the Spanish football landscape are expressing a keen interest in landing the 22-year-old this summer.

To this point, the likes of Barcelona, Sevilla, and Getafe have all been tipped to bring Greenwood in on a permanent basis with a view to next season.

And, as alluded to above, if the latest speculation stemming from the media is anything to go by, yet another of La Liga’s clubs have this week entered their name in the Greenwood sweepstakes, too.

The outfit in question? Atlético Madrid.

As per a report from transfer insider Mike McGrath of the Daily Telegraph, ‘Mason Greenwood is on Atletico Madrid’s shortlist of forwards they are looking at as potential summer targets.’

After being forced to pull out of a January deal for Juventus’ Moise Kean at the last, the powers that be at the Wanda Metropolitano remain on the lookout for reinforcements in the attacking third.

And Greenwood, owing to both his form and ability to fill various positions across the frontline, is one such option being considered by Diego Simeone and co.
