The powers that be at Atlético Madrid have identified a new profile in their ongoing search for reinforcements in the middle of the park.
That’s according to Marca, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The player to have made his way into the sights of Atlético comes in the form of Atalanta standout Éderson.
Éderson, for his part, is in the midst of a fine campaign in Italy, which has seen the Brazilian reinforce his status as an integral member of boss Gian Piero Gasperini’s midfield ranks.
All told, the 24-year-old has taken to the pitch on 36 occasions, all but three of which came in the form of starts.
And, despite generally lining out in a deep-lying, defensive-minded role, Éderson has even managed to chip in with a none-too-shabby six goals.
In turn, it should perhaps not come as a great surprise to hear of interest in the former Salernitana man’s services beginning to mount.
As per the aforementioned MD, amid their ongoing search for fresh blood in midfield with a view to next season, the Atlético Madrid brass have turned their attentions towards Éderson.
The Rojiblancos have not been scared off by the alleged €30 million price-tag on the head of the Brazilian, viewing him as a potential difference-maker at the base of the club’s engine room.
Diego Simeone and co, though, will need to keep a close eye on La Liga rivals Barcelona, too, with the Blaugrana understood to be keen admirers of Éderson’s talents themselves.
