Atletico Madrid are keen to strengthen in the middle of the park this summer, and while they have been tipped to make a permanent move for a holding midfielder, a loan could be a handy option, with uncertainty over how much they will have to spend.
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte had a good start to life in the French capital, but in the second half of the season became a bit-part player for Luis Enrique. Cadena Cope claim that Atletico are interested in taking Ugarte on loan this summer, if PSG are open to a deal.
Los Colchoneros have also been linked with a move to Guido Rodriguez and Mats Wieffer for the same role, but there is little indication of any movement for either of them at this point.
Ugarte, being Uruguayan, would certainly fit the tenacious character that Diego Simeone has traditionally favoured for Atletico, and it is undoubtedly a position of need. Ugarte would be a temporary solution to the problem, and leave Los Rojiblancos in the same position next season.
