Atletico Madrid find way to victory at Valencia | OneFootball

Atletico Madrid managed to do enough to ground out a 1-0 win at Valencia on Saturday.

In a battling game, with few chances for both sides and neither holding clear credentials to emerge as victors, Atletico emerged with the three points as Toni Lato deflected the ball into his own net.

Atletico had a bizarrely attacking line-up with four wingers in the side, but it was Joao Felix's introduction at the break which really turned the tie.

Lato stepped in for injured captain Jose Gaya, but as the cross came in, he could do nothing but turn the ball into his own net as it deflected off of his shin inside the Valencia penalty area.

The hosts had chances of their own, particularly in the first-half, as Uros Racic decided to shoot rather than pass which would have created a golden opportunity against Jan Oblak on his 200th appearance for Atletico Madrid.
