A fresh update on the future of Atlético Madrid star Mario Hermoso has come to the fore online.

And the news will no doubt come as a blow to those of an Atlético persuasion hopeful of the defender staying put beyond the summer.

This comes amid confirmation that, barring any last-minute changes in the situation, Hermoso is all set to move on upon the season’s close.

As per a report from Relevo transfer insider Matteo Moretto, ‘this will be Mario Hermoso’s last season with Atlético de Madrid’.

Those behind the scenes at the Wanda Metropolitano have long made clear their desire for the 28-year-old – a key member of Diego Simeone’s defensive ranks – to stay put.

However, ahead of the expiration of his contract terms in the summer, little progress has been made in negotiations between the parties regarding a renewal.

Hermoso, in turn, will engage in talks with clubs from across Europe, and potentially beyond, starting from next month.
