Atlético Madrid are in need of a striker and could turn to Arsenal should their pursuit of PSG’s Edinson Cavani fall short.
According to Marca, the Spanish giants are making Alexandre Lacazette their secondary attacking target in the January window, though the France international has started as Arsenals lone striker in each of the Gunners’ five matches since Mikel Arteta took control of the squad.
In addition, the report states that struggling midfielder Thomas Lemar could be involved as part of a swap deal.
Back in 2017, Arsène Wenger admitted that Arsenal had lodged an unsuccessful bid of €100m for Lemar.
During the same summer, a then-26-year-old Lacazette was set to head to Atlético from Lyon and had agreed to go to Spain, but their summer transfer ban allowed Arsenal to step in and land his services.
Atlético eventually landed Lemar in summer 2018 from Monaco for €60m, but has only contributed three goals and six assists in 64 games since his arrival.
Lacazette has featured 107 times for Arsenal, scoring 42 goals and assisting 20 others.
