Atlético Madrid have confirmed that two members of their group have tested positive for coronavirus.
Diego Simeone’s side are scheduled to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League quarter-finals on Thursday.
Ahead of the club’s trip to Lisbon for the game, the whole squad and members of staff due to be flying to Portugal were tested for Covid-19.
An official statement on the club’s website read: “Among the results known today, two positives have appeared, which are isolated in their respective homes.
“The results were immediately communicated to the Spanish and Portuguese health authorities, UEFA, the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the Portuguese Federation and the Higher Sports Council.”
Further tests will now be carried out on the Atlético squad and travelling members of staff, as well as any close contracts with the two players tested positive.
The identities of the two people have not been disclosed at this stage.
