Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone admits Real Madrid deserved their victory on Sunday.

Real won 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu via goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio.

Simeone said: "Power in football is fundamental and Madrid is going through a period of absolute power.

"It comes and marks you. We had some chances in the second half, but they took advantage of a counter and made a great goal. They won fairly. The team worked, it came from a very great mental effort in Portugal and the game was played. Until 1-0 nothing happened, but then the game took another path.

"The 2-0 ends up hurting you, the team gave everything, they are working well and the Liga is long, despite the fact that the difference is very big with the leader, but we have to look at the one in front and try to pass them.

"Madrid is powerful and playing a football that I like, well in the low block, strong in defence, coming out with speed and forcefulness. It is doing a very good championship."
