Atlético Madrid want to sign Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus.
According to Goal.com, the Italian giants have turned down an approach from the LaLiga side.
Diego Simeone’s interest was sparked by the midfielder’s performance for Uruguay at the World Cup as well as his displays in Serie A for Juve.
The 21-year-old is quite the way down the pecking order in Turin though is considered an important squad player, particularly for the future.
Earlier this season, Bentancur was targeting more game-time and said: “I did not play much at the beginning, but in the last few matches, I played. I have to try and earn more minutes and help the team.
“My goal for the season? To improve, to play as much as possible, and perhaps to win a starting position and to continue my growth.”
So far, the former Boca Juniors midfielder has made six Serie A appearances and found the net in Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Udinese.
