The home side began the game brightly, dominating the ball, but were made to wait until 10 minutes before half time for the opening goal.

It came from Guiliano Simeone, his first for the club, racing beyond the Las Palmas defence before firing a low finish into the bottom left corner.

They could have been 2-0 up before the interval, but Antoine Greizmann saw his effort cannon back off the woodwork, leaving his side just one goal to the good at the interval.

It was a much less open second half, with neither side managing a shot on target until summer signing Alexander Sørloth put the game to bed five minutes from time, providing an emphatic finish after being slipped in by Rodrigo de Paul, and securing all three points for the home side.
