The wait for their first win of the season continues for Club América after losing 3-2 at home against Atlético de San Luis on Saturday.
Scorers: MartĂnez 91âČ, MartĂn 94âČ; Unai Bilbao 6âČ, HernĂĄndez 54âČ, Berterame 61âČ
San Luis started the better of the two sides with central defender Unai Bilbao opening the score in the sixth minute with a towering header from a corner.
Despite this América had the better of the possession throughout the encounter but lacked penetration.
The closest they came in the first half was a right-footed curling effort from Ălvaro Fidalgo which grazed the outside of the post in the 16th minute.
In the second half, pushing for an equaliser Los Azul-Cremas left themselves exposed at the back. Two quick counterattacks in the space of seven minutes put the game beyond the hosts.
Abel HernĂĄndez tapped into an empty net in the 54th minute before turning provider in the 61st as GermĂĄn Berterame put the game to bed, slotting his shot between Guillermo Ochoaâs legs, who made five key saves on the night.
A bad night for AmĂ©rica was capped off in the 85th minute when right-back Miguel LayĂșn received a straight red card for a reckless challenge.
San Luis survived a late comeback by Las Ăguilas. Colombian striker Roger MartĂnez fired into the roof of the net from close range in the 91st and Henry MartĂnâs inch-perfect header three minutes later teed up a tense finale.
In the end, the deficit was too much for them to overcome, losing 3-2.
This result means Atlético de San Luis recorded their first victory of the season and climb the table into 12th place.
Meanwhile, AmĂ©rcia are winless in three and will be casting their eyes towards next Saturdayâs trip to Santos Laguna hoping to pick up their first three points of the season.
