Atlético de Madrid are assured of Champions League qualification after their 3-0 win over Osasuna on Sunday.

The Colchoneros were chasing an eighth straight home win at Civitas Metropolitano while their visitors still held out hopes for a Europa Conference League place.

Yannick Carrasco broke the deadlock at the end of a cagey first half by meeting Antoine Griezmann’s selfless cutback to the far post with a sweeping finish.

Diego Simeone’s side doubled their lead shortly after the hour mark when Saúl Ñíguez produced a superb chested volley from Rodrigo de Paul’s deflected pass.

De Paul was integral again as the hosts capped off a comprehensive victory as he sent Ángel Correa clear with a defence-splitting pass to slot home on 82 minutes.

This result moves Atleti temporarily up to second in the table as they are set to feature in the Champions League for an 11th consecutive season.
