Atlético de Madrid have replaced Barcelona in LaLiga’s top three courtesy of a 5-0 rout over Las Palmas.

Marcos Llorente set the wheels in motion with two well-taken strikes inside the opening 20 minutes at the Civitas Metropolitano.

First, the midfielder seized on a loose ball in the penalty area to sweep home from close range before later slotting from Ángel Correa’s cutback.

Correa followed Llorente’s lead after the interval by meeting Koke’s looping header with a volley and following it up by converting from the penalty spot.

In the closing stages, Memphis Depay added a fifth after latching onto Rodrigo Riquelme’s through ball and firing into the roof of the net.

Diego Simeone’s side leapfrogged Barça on goal difference ahead of the defending champions taking on Celta Vigo later on Saturday.
