Atlético de Madrid had to settle for a 1-1 draw with city rivals Rayo Vallecano.
Scorers: Palazón 35′; Gallagher 50′
Isi Palazón had handed Iñigo Pérez’s side the lead by guiding home Andrei Rațiu’s initial effort at the far post just 10 minutes before half-time.
But the visitors pulled level just five minutes after the interval when Alexander Sørloth teed up Conor Gallagher for a second goal in as many weeks.
Despite the Colchoneros continuing to push for a late winner, they were unable to take more than a point from their trip to Vallecas.
Diego Simeone’s side remain fourth in LaLiga, six points adrift of leaders Barcelona, while Rayo sit ninth after their hard-fought result.
