Atlanta United have suffered a mid-summer transfer blow, as the club will be forced to loan out key midfielder Franco Ibarra for the remainder of the campaign, according to the Athletic.
The Argentine has started 15 of the Five Stripes’ 21 games this season, and ranks among the best defensive midfielders in MLS statistically.
However, with Edwin Mosquera returning to the club after a loan spell at Defensa y Justicia in Argentina’s top-flight, Atlanta will need to ship out one of their four U-22 initiative players to be MLS roster compliant.
It appears as if the sword has fallen on Franco Ibarra, despite the 22-year-old being a key member of Gonzalo Pineda’s first team. However, a possible destination for Ibarra has not been revealed.
