The coach of Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense isn’t hiding the fact that Inter Milan target Bento will likely leave for Europe soon.

Athletico coach Cuca spoke to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, via FCInterNews. He was frank and realistic about the possibility of a sale of the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

This summer, Inter are reportedly keen to sign a goalkeeper.

The Nerazzurri’s plan would be to sign a younger keeper. One capable of not just backing Yann Sommer up in the immediate future, but also inheriting the starting shirt from the former Bayern Munich veteran.

And by all accounts, there is one player above all who Inter are targeting.

The Nerazzurri had already shown an interest in Bento last summer. And reports suggested that the player himself has long been keen on the idea of a switch to the San Siro.

But this summer, Inter could really ramp up their efforts to sign Bento.

Reportedly, Athletico want a fee of around €20 million to sell the Brazilian international.

Inter will have to see whether they can agree a deal with Athletico. But their interest is very real, and they are reportedly ready to stump up the cash.

And for his part, Athletico’s coach is not under any illusions about the situation with Bento.

Naturally, the 24-year-old would not be an easy player for his club to lose. But the goalkeeper himself wants to move on.

“Whether unfortunately or fortunately, he will leave this club soon,” Athletico coach Cuca said.

“He asked to be sold.”

“That’s what the player himself is looking for, right?” Cuca continued. “To play in Europe, to earn more money, and to play in one of the top leagues in the world.”

“Athletico has always had great goalkeepers, though,” the coach then hinted at a succession plan.
